Kurt Milliman elected 2021/2022 Chairman of Board

Kurt Milliman, our 2021-2022 Chairman of the Board, serves as the regional manager for Lehigh Hanson/Sherman Industries utilizing his extensive background in construction. He has worked with some form of building materials since he was 15 and has lived and worked in various concrete markets in the Southeast and Texas. His responsibility includes 22 ready mixed concrete plants and nearly 200 employees across the central Alabama and metro-Atlanta.

Kurt manages all business operations to ensure production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources is delivered with the highest levels of safety and environmental stewardship. He also serves on the Board of Red Bluff Sand & Gravel.

“I’m excited to work with the association to push ready mix opportunities within the state and to help continue pushing proper concrete testing,” he says. “This is my sixth year being involved with the association and I know concrete construction will continue to evolve.”

Kurt also explained that one of biggest challenges facing the concrete industry is the aging workforce and that interest from younger generations for the industry is waning.

“I intend to support and participate through the association on some of the states workforce programs with hope to push the Board for ideas on creating interest.”
