ACIA Presents Panel Discussion on AU’s New STEM Building

The Alabama Concrete Industries Association would like to thank the Birmingham Chapter of AIA for the opportunity to present a panel discussion on the design and construction of Auburn University’s new STEM building as part of the chapter’s Higher Education Day.

The nearly $230 million project features concrete frame construction designed to meet the building’s complex architectural and structural requirements.

Frank Mruk of the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association moderated the discussion, which featured an outstanding panel of professionals involved in the project:

• Greg Tucker, Tucker Jones Engineers
• Daniel Casey, Hoar Construction

The panel provided valuable insight into the design, engineering, and construction considerations behind this significant higher-education project and the important role concrete played in bringing the design to life.
