Yardage Stays Steady in June

Data recently released by the United States Geological Service shows 148,887 tons of cement were shipped to the state in June 2024. The tonnage is .69% higher than June 2023. Volumes for the first six months of 2024 exceeded last year’s total by 4.3%.

Looking to ready mix yardage, we estimate 551,329 cubic yards of concrete were placed during the month.

The AIA billing index for August 2024 contracted from 48.2 in July to 45.7 in August. The AIA billing index is a leading indicator of upcoming commercial construction and is considered in worsening conditions when under 50. The billing index has remained below 50 for the past 12 months.

The Home Builder Index slightly improved in the September report rising to 41 from 39 but is still lagging below 50 which indicates a shrinking market.
