2026 Quad-State Summer Convention held June 18-21
The 2026 Quad-State Summer Convention was once again held at the beautiful Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa June 18–21. The Alabama Concrete Industries Association was joined by the Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee Concrete Associations, making year’s event the largest convention ever, with more than 490 attendees.
While weather forecasts leading up to the event were discouraging, Mother Nature ultimately cooperated, allowing attendees to enjoy a full weekend of networking, delicious food, and lots of time on the beach.
Registration began Thursday evening and flowed into the welcome cocktail reception. Attendees received custom convention t-shirts as gifts and enjoyed reconnecting with industry friends and colleagues. Thursday night’s cocktail reception provided a great start to the convention, while the Friday and Saturday beach parties were enjoyed throughout the weekend.
The golf tournament was held Friday morning at Raven Golf Club, allowing participants plenty of time to enjoy the beach and convention activities in the afternoon. Golf tournament winners included:
1st Place: Bobby Dowdy (MMC Materials), Rocky McBride (MMC Materials), Gary Scott (MMC Materials), and Ben Tharp (Fiberforce)
2nd Place: Michael Hoagland (Shumaker Industries), Dwayne Stone (Buzzi Unicem), Jason Jones (Meuth Concrete), and Garrett Miller
3rd Place: Brad Handley (Dunn Construction), Frank Conn (Conn-Crete), and Luke Conn (Conn-Crete), and Rush Harper.
A cornhole tournament was held Friday afternoon, with Frank Conn and Luke Conn of Conn-Crete taking first place. Spencer Glassco (Kirkpatrick Concrete) and Jackson Glassco finished in second place. Following the tournament, attendees enjoyed several games of beach volleyball, with a team consisting of Emmy Sorrell, Harper Russell, Reid Tharp and Kate Tharp claiming the championship.
Saturday morning’s educational program featured three informative presentations:
“Avoiding Burnout in the Construction Industry” – Michael J. Schneider, Consultant, Baker Construction
“2026 NRMCA Benchmark Report” – Pierre G. Villere, Chairman and Senior Managing Partner, Allen-Villere Partners
“AI Technology and the Future of Concrete” – Panel Discussion featuring Michael Fletcher, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing, AICrete; Lenny Morris, Senior Vice President of Sales, Sysdyne Technologies; and J. Kyle Cotton, Enterprise Account Manager, Command Alkon
As the convention came to a close Saturday evening, attendees enjoyed a cocktail reception, buffet dinner, and Casino Night.
