Alabama Cement Shipments Shrink in April
Data recently released by the United States Geological Service showed cement shipments declined by 10.8% in April 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. The tonnage is a 9% decrease compared to shipments in March 2025. We estimate 518,168 yards of concrete were placed during the month. While the yardage would represent the third highest volumes for the month of April over the last 10 years, we estimate yardage has now fallen behind 2024 totals to date by 2.4%. Looking at ready-mix volumes across the country, Alabama was one of only 10 states that experienced greater volumes in the first quarter of 2025 than the first quarter 2024.
