Cement shipment data recently released by the United States Geological Service for February 2018 shows tonnage to the state grew for the eighth straight month. The 93,323 tons shipped to the state represents a 13.6 % increase compared to February 2017 and a 9% increase over January 2018. The February tonnage is the largest volume in five years for the month.
Ready Mix Yardage Sees Uptick
Utilizing the cement shipments and the NRMCA conversion factor for ready mix yardage, 345,575 cubic yards of concrete were poured for the month compared to 313,840 yards in January. Most producers are reporting they are very busy, with many saying the housing market is heating up.
