Data recently released by the United States Geological Service show 99,834 tons of cement were shipped to the state during November 2019. The November total, is a 14% increase over the same period in 2018. Comparing October 2019 and November 2019, the state experienced a contraction of approximately 9%. Also of significance, the November total of 99,834 is only the second time shipments have dropped below the 100,000 ton figure this year. The previous time was in February.
With only one month left to be reported, cement shipments are within 500 tons of the 2018 totals. While cement shipments are still significantly off the pre-recession totals, the state has now experienced 5 consecutive years of slow and steady growth.
Looking to ready mix volumes, we estimate 369,685 tons were placed during the month of November.
