Nicholas Naylor receives Foundation Scholarship

Our first $8,000 Foundation scholarship recipient is Nicholas Naylor, a student at the University of South Alabama. After graduating from high school, Nicholas joined the United States Marine Corps and served our country as an infantry team leader. He also led his team in combat missions during tours of duty in Iraq.

After his service was complete, Nicholas enrolled at USA majoring in civil engineering. He has worked with the Alabama Department of Transportation as a professional civil engineer trainee where he helped inspect structures, developed bid scopes and helped produce an efficient work schedule for the crew.

“It is impossible to not utilize concrete in civil engineering,” said Nicholas. “Through my time with ALDOT, I have seen concrete being used for new construction and maintenance purposes. A lot of my time is spent inspecting structures made of concrete.”

Nicholas has received many accolades, including Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society Member, Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society Member, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society Member as well as the USA Engineering Dean’s List.

“It is an honor to be chosen for this scholarship, and these funds will be a tremendous asset to my family, especially in these uncertain times,” said Nicholas.

Our Foundation offers two $8,000 scholarships to students in building science, architecture or engineering at one of the state’s universities. The only requirements are the student must be a senior and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
