2025 Tri-State Summer Convention held in Sandestin

The 2025 Tri-State Summer meeting was once again held at the beautiful Sandestin Beach Hilton June 24th-28th. It was one of the largest convention that has ever been held with the Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee Concrete Associations, and over 350 people attended.

Registration began Wednesday evening and flowed into the cocktail reception.
The gifts for attendees included custom t-shirts and customized cups.

Wednesday night’s cocktail party and buffet dinner was a great start to the convention, and the Thursday and Friday beach parties were enjoyed by everyone.

The golf tournament was held Thursday morning at the Raven golf course so that
those playing could still enjoy an afternoon on the beach. The golf tournament winners included 1st Place: BT Lynchard (MMC Materials), Wade Jenkins (Truckworx), Ben Tharpe (Fiberforce), David Campbell (Fiberforce); 2nd Place: Dewayne Stone, Carson Grantham, Kyle Cotton; 3rd Place: Brad Handley (Dunn Construction), Evans Duncan (Ready Mix USA), Mark Neely (Bama Concrete), Joey Harper (Dunn Construction). The closest to the pin winners were Austin Cherry (PRI Materials), Bobby Dowdy (MMC Materials), Cason Swancey (Sika) and Dwayne Stone (Buzzi Cement).

A corn hole tournament was held early that afternoon, and the winners were David and Reed Tharpe (Fiberforce), with Luke Conn (Conn Crete) and Nick Rawlings (Conn Crete) coming in 2nd place. Following the corn hole tournament were several games of beach volleyball, with a well put-together team of Emmy Sorrell, Todd Miller (National Cement), Chris Wade (GMS Oldcastle) and Chandler Wade (GMS Old Castle) winning it all.

The Friday morning education sessions featured great speakers with vast knowledge on the concrete industry. The speakers and topics were “No Fail Trust: The Flight Plan to Cultivating a High-Performance Team, “LT. Col. Jason Harris; “Political and Regulatory Check-In,” Andrew Tyrell, NRMCA; “Industry Financial Update,” Pierre Villere, Allen-Villere Partners.

As the convention came to a close Friday evening, guests enjoyed a sponsored bar, buffet dinner and Casino Night.
