State law requires any scale used in the production and selling of materials or goods to the public be certified by the Department of Agriculture on an annual basis. Scales used to weigh aggregate, cement, and water at ready mix plants fall under this requirement.
Recently, the concrete industry requested that the Department of Agriculture establish protocols for scale companies to follow when certifying ready mix plants to avoid confusion by the scale company. As communicated in the past, plants must also have a weighmaster on site at the plant.
