Ready Mix Consumption Jumps in July

According to data recently released by the USGS, cement shipments to AL increased 3.9% for July 2017 over the same period in 2016. The USGS estimated 93,295 tons of cement were shipped for 2017 compared to 89,547 tons the previous year. Utilizing the NRMCA conversion factor, it is estimated that 345,471 cubic yards of concrete were placed during the month. This is an approximate 13,000 more cubic yards than in 2016.

The increase in July, breaks a 3 month slide the state had been experiencing. After 7 months, cement and ready mix consumption in the state is still lagging 2016 totals by over 2%.
