The ACIA’s monthly economic data report called Trendlines provides members with the latest cement and ready mix consumption for the state, as well as housing permits issued for the 25 largest homebuilder association chapters. The report also¬†provides historical production trends, and data included in the report will be based upon USGS cement shipments and utilizes a conversion factor to estimate ready mix production.

April Cement and Ready Mix Production Increases 26% Over 2015

Ready mix production in Alabama for April 2016 grew by 26% compared to April 2015. For the first four months of the year, Alabama has seen production increase by 21% over the same four months of 2015. National ready mix production grew .2% for the month of April 2016 over April 2015. Year to date, the national average has seen an increase in production of 9.9%.

Single Family Building Permits for April Offered Mix News

Single family building permits issued for the state during the month of May 2016 saw a decrease of 1.7% compared to April 2016, but overall building permits issued for the first five months of 2016 are up 12.1%. Looking at the top 25 markets year to date, 14 areas are up over 2015 with 11 areas being down year over year.

Cement Shipments to Alabama Eclipse 102,668 Tons for April

Cement shipments to Alabama as reported by the USGS for the month of April grew to 102,668 tons. As shown in the 3 year shipment graph, cement shipments have not reached the 100,000 ton plateau in 3 last years.
