The ACIA’s monthly economic data report called Trendlines provides members with the latest cement and ready mix consumption for the state, as well as housing permits issued for the 25 largest homebuilder association chapters. The report also provides historical production trends, and data included in the report will be based upon USGS cement shipments and utilizes a conversion factor to estimate ready mix production.

March Cement and Ready Mix Production Increases 22.9% Over 2015
Ready mix production in Alabama for March 2016 grew by 22.9% compared to March 2015. Nationally ready mix production for March increased by an average of 19.1% over 2015 totals. For the first three months of the year, Alabama has seen production increase by 18.6% over the first three months of 2015. The state increase is outpacing the national increase over 14.4%
Single Family Building Permits for April Offered Mix News
Single family building permits issued for the state during the month of April 2016 saw a decrease of 8.1% compared to March 2016, but overall building permits issued for the first four months of 2016 are up 12.1%. Looking at the top 25 markets, 13 areas are up over 2015 with 12 areas being down year over year.
Cement Shipments to Alabama Eclipse 96,000 Tons for March
Cement shipments to Alabama as reported by the USGS for the month of March grew to 96,152 tons. As shown in the 3 year shipment graph, cement shipments have only exceed the number 5 times over the last 36 months.
