The Alabama Concrete Industries Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2018 scholarships. The foundation will be awarding two $8,000 scholarships to seniors enrolled in building science, architecture, or engineering at one of the state’s universities. The association will be notifying professors and deans at the University of Alabama, Auburn University, University of South Alabama, UAB, UAH and Tuskegee University.

Students who would like to apply can CLICK HERE and complete the application. Applications will be accepted until December 1, 2017.

The scholarships will be presented to the winners at the ACIA’s Annual Business Meeting in January.

In 2017, the Alabama Concrete Industries Association began awarding a $5,000 “Sam Reed Scholarship” to a junior or senior enrolled at Auburn University.  Sam passed away in July 2016 after a short battle with cancer. He received his bachelor’s degree from Auburn University in 1980 and was employed as Vice President-Sales and Production at MidSouth Aggregates. He was deeply passionate about his family, friends and Auburn University, and was actively involved in ACIA for many many years.

Students applying for the Sam Reed scholarship must be enrolled in architecture, building science, or engineering with an emphasis on civil or structural at Auburn University. Applicants are required to have a 3.0 GPA overall or a 3.0 GPA in their major. Applications will be accepted until December 1, 2017. Recipients will be notified before December 31, 2017. This scholarship will also be awarded at the ACIA’s Annual Business Meeting in January.
